Abstract

In the past decades mastering quantitative methodology is replaced by emphasis on qualitative methodology. One of the most important strategies of qualitative research is grounded theory. In this article, after a brief review of the position of this strategy in the area of qualitative research, appearance and transformation of this research strategy as well as its meaning and definitions are discussed. Then, the process of implementing grounded theory is offered according to the most prominent existing approach, which is Strauss and Corbin's systematic approach. In this part, the processual nation of this theory, theoretical sampling, memoing, data coding (open, axial and selective coding), creating and presenting theory and finally, validation and evaluation of grounded theory are discussed.
