Abstract
Since there is no comprehensive model of strategic leadership; and there is also a need to examine this category in indigenous and religious literature, the present article has been developed for studying and eliciting the meaning of strategic leadership from Islamic point of view by focusing on Imam Ali’s words in Nahjolbalagheh. At the first stage, strategic leadership was extracted in western sources and domestic studies, and in the next step, considering the widespread and varied Imam’s statements in Nahj al-Balagha, a comprehensive sample was selected. Meanwhile doing studies by the researcher(s), expert in Nahjolbalagheh, Malek Ashtar treaty was selected and according to the subject of the research and lack of suitable resources, qualitative research method was used for content analysis. Concerning inductive nature of this method, we have done text to text measuring of Malek Ashtar treaty. For the ease in note taking and appropriate coding Nvivo 8 software was used. Thus, strategic leadership includes: “developing and reminding the missions”, and “determining priorities and activities based on them” by “introducing practical patterns”, “using experience (lessons and traditions) and “organizing and improving staff affairs” which are realized by” developing agreement and unity among staff”, “compliance with patience and persistence”, “compliance with moderation, fairness and justice” and” behaving with tolerance and kindness towards staff”.
