Abstract

Novel technologies and social changes have transformed the media and their influences on different aspects of society. Although the role and effect of the media on public policies have been focused on by previous researchers, few studies have identified this role in relation to other policy actors and the role of emerging and technological trends. The public policy arena, as one of these societal aspects, has been revolutionized by novel media changes, so the interaction between public policy actors in the new circumstances should be scrutinized. The present paper deals with the issue of media's function regarding the relations among the public, policy-makers, and politicians. Extracting the required from the interviews, the research has applied the grounded theory method to deliberate the issue. The paper concludes with a theoretical development of its model and presents policy recommendations. The contribution of this research is to provide a theory respecting the actor’s relations and consider new technological changes in media
