Designing the Business Framework Model for Family Farming

Abstract
Today, there are widespread barriers to the progress of Iran's agricultural sector. Although some agricultural activists consider the main obstacle in this field to be technological deficiencies, researchers believe it to be related to humanities and social sciences, and at the forefront of them is business management. From this perspective, the first controversial issue is agricultural production and exploitation systems. This research has as its basis the family exploitation system in agriculture, the practical manifestation of which is the family agricultural business. Therefore, the main issue is the lack of a model for designing and implementing family agricultural businesses in the country. The main goal is to design a model that encompasses the major components of the family agricultural business and the relationships between them, and show the logic of the business as a whole. First, by studying the research literature, the conceptual framework consisting of components, their relationship and their content was obtained. Then, based on the interview protocol, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve experts from the agricultural business sector. To analyze the data, the thematic analysis method and the Strider-Sterling approach were used. The data were analyzed with MAXQDA software, resulting in 1596 codes and 565 basic themes, 86 organizing themes and 13 global themes. As a result, the business model for the agricultural sector was designed with 12 components: customer segments, value propositions, revenue streams, channels, customer relationships, cost structure, key activities, key resources, human capital architecture, financial capital architecture, key partners and strategic business management.
