Development of core managerial experiences framework in Iranian oil and gas industry

Abstract

The present research was conducted in the field of training and development of managers with a focus on the oil and gas industry and based on one of the latest development approaches. The experience-driven development approach is a deep-rooted and valid subject in advanced societies and has been studied since the middle of the 20th century. The aim of the present research is to find a framework about developmental experiences or events in the career path of successful managers in a selected industry. The statistical population of the research includes the senior managers of the oil and gas industry. Therefore, one of the criteria for conducting interviews was the selection of managers at this level of the organization. The findings from the interview process include 130 statements in the form of 35 open coding and summarized in 5 key areas of experience. These five key areas of experience are development, innovation, and teacher-centeredness. Development and accompaniment, research and development, development and limitation, development and expansion of the approach presented in the framework of the key experiences of managers.
